A Park for Generations
Since June, the Kelley’s Landing team has heard from over 1,100 people in our community, met with dozens of stakeholders, regulatory groups, and safety organizations, and attended multiple park events to capture what the community has to say about the future of Kelley’s Landing.
A New Gateway to the Kentucky River
Kelley’s Landing represents a historic milestone for Fayette County—the creation of our community’s first public access point to the Kentucky River. Once a cherished family farm and a popular boat dock in the 1960s, this 30-acre site is being transformed into a premier natural area park where the city meets the water. Situated along the breathtaking Kentucky River Palisades, the park offers a unique opportunity to explore Lexington’s environmental and cultural heritage, featuring striking views of ancient limestone cliffs and a deep connection to the river that has shaped our region for centuries.
Guided by Community, Built for the Future
The vision for Kelley’s Landing is more than just a park; it is a collective effort to restore and celebrate our natural resources. Developed through extensive public engagement with over 1,100 residents, the Master Plan prioritizes low-impact recreation and ecological preservation. From future walking trails and paddle launches to nature-based play areas and environmental education, every element is designed to be universally accessible and sustainable. We invite you to join us as we cultivate this "blank canvas" into a vibrant destination that protects our riparian ecology while providing a much-needed space for play, discovery, and connection.
